Made with code: difference between 3/4 and 6/8

Today I’m going to explain you the difference between 3/4 and 6/8. Both have similar structures but, what does it make them different?

Subdivision

Picture 1

3/4 has a binary subdivision and 6/8 has a ternary subdivision, so what does that mean?

It means that in every pulse of 3/4 there can be till 2 eighth notes (look at the picture 1). 3/4 consists in 3 pulses and every pulse can contain till 2 eighth notes.

6/8 consists in 2 pulses and every pulse can contain till 3 eight notes.

Number 4 in 3/4 means quarter note and 8 eighth note.

If you still don’t understand or don’t have so clear this explanation, please, check my tutorial and with Made with code you will understand better because I give examples.

Remember! It’s not the same! 😀
